The night we had all be waiting for finally arrived as the Stars host the Bruins at American Airlines Center to kick off the 2019-20 season.
The Stars looked in many ways like the 2018-19 team, a slow start ultimately couldn’t be recovered from. The former Star Brett Ritchie put one past Bishop on the Bruins first shot of the game, the Bruins continued to outplay the Stars through the first period and Dallas entered the 1st intermission down by a pair and not looking like they would stand a chance.
The Stars just like last year looked like a different team in the second period, and start to look like the better team as the period moved along despite losing Dickinson & Comeau in the first period. An already short benched Stars team then lost Roman Polak as he collided head first with the boards, a long and silent pause came over the AAC as Roman was being treated to and eventually stretchered off the ice.
The pause gave the Stars and in particular Roope Hintz a spring in his step as seconds after the restart he flew past the Boston defense and picked up the Stars first goal of the night and of the season.
Unfortunately despite a much better effort from the Stars for the remainder of the period and the game there was no more scoring for the Stars as the Bruins held the Stars off the board and walked away from the AAC with the win and an opening night loss for the Stars.
Overall a tough loss for the Stars, Bishop had a good game, but let two soft goals in early on. It is only game one, but the Stars need to find that extra offense, Pavelski picked up an assist in his debut for the Stars, but the rest of the top line for the Stars were kept of the board.
Now to learn from the mistakes and move on to game number two!
