It’s all happening in Big D
The Dallas Stars have had a busy July 1st
The Stars have been busy today, in no particular order here is a summary of today’s actions…
Kari is out – Long time Stars Goaltender has moved on, Kari has been fantastic over the years for the Stars, but has never managed to be heroic when the Stars really needed him to be, at times last year he was at the top of his game, and at other times we couldn’t rely on him. So perhaps the news that he has gone is music to your ears? Well, overall yes, I think it is a good thing, Kari seems to be an easy target to blame for the Stars lack of success and although that is not the case, it is hard to regain that trust.
So with Kari gone, who’s the number 2 netminder to give big Ben Bishop the odd night off…?
Anton Kudobin – New backup Anton Kudobin will be the Stars no2 goalie, Anton is a veteran who will bring experience as a no2 goalie to Dallas, he finished last year in Boston with a 16-6-7 record and for a backup that’s pretty darn impressive. Carton Point will also start his professional career that gives the Texas Stars and in turn Dallas a much better looking future for its goal tending situation.
Tavares… – Well it wasn’t meant to be, it would have been great to see how Tavares would have fitted into the Stars team, but he has chosen to sign with the Maple Leafs, best of luck to him in Toronto.
Val is back – The rumors were confirmed a few weeks ago, but now it is official, the big Russian Valeri Nichushkin will return to the NHL and will return with the Stars as he signs a 2-year contract with the club. We will expect to see a much more rounded player out of Val than we saw a few years back, but it will be exciting to see that speed and power return to the Stars.
Who else will be in a Stars uniform next year?
Blake Comeau – Right Wing from Colorado – 3 year contract
Roman Polak – Defense from Toronto – 1 year deal
Michael Mersch – Left Wing from Ontario (AHL) – 2 year contract
So who will not be returning to Dallas?
Sadly the below members of the Dallas Stars will also not be returning to Dallas next season, we wish them the best in their new roles/organizations.
Antoine Russell > VAN
Bryan Flynn > STL
Greg Pateryn > MIN
Curtis McKenzie > VGK
Craig Ludwig (Color Analyst)
That’s it so far, but stay tuned more!!
