The Dallas Stars hosted the Colorado Avalanche at the American Airlines center in what would be a very important game to keep the Stars play off hopes alive or see the Avalanche slide in to the second spot behind the Stars.
The good news for the Stars is that the Arizona Coyotes lost tonight meaning the Stars had some room in the playoff race, however, the Coyotes loosing meant that with a win Colorado to take the final wild card spot from them
Tonights game for me just showed the Avs wanted it more. The Stars put together a good effort and after falling behind by 1 goal in the 2nd period the Stars started stacking up the shots on goal. However, it was the Avalanche who struck again in the third, making it 2-0 Colorado. Tyler Seguin managed to get the stars on the board with a goal with 5 minutes left in the game, the Stars looked like they could get the equalizer as with Bishop on the bench and Colorado down to 4 men and 1 without a stick the Stars were closing in, but a miss-handled puck awards the Avalanche a shot at the empty net and they make it count, the final score being 3-1 Colorado.
The St Louis Blues picked up 2 points tonight and extended their lead over the Stars and Nashville picked up just the 1 point in an overtime loss so the Stars will need to string together some wins if they have any hope of catching the number 2 or 3 slots.
